

Walter Paul (“Butch”) Hanges, age 67, passed on Sunday, March 23, 2025, surrounded by his children and family, and with an unshakeable faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Butch was preceded in death by his parents Constantine James and Betty Ann Hanges. He is survived by fiancée, Margaret; mother of his children, Paula; sons Travis (Lindsey) Hanges, Kyle Hanges, Jordan (Amanda) Hanges; daughter, Brooke (Joel) Oosterhouse; brother, James Constantine; sister-in-law, Neila Hanges; aunt, Patricia Rigler; two grandsons Skyler Hanges and Brady Hanges; three nieces Kara, Katie, and Constance; ten cousins across the country; along with many lifelong friends.
Butch was highly respected in the local sign industry, and master fabricator and trainer of young sign fabricators. An entrepreneur himself with an associate degree in business, Butch founded and built his own local sign company. He was also a well-known guitarist, regularly performing in the praise band of his church, Fellowship Reformed Church, song writer, and publisher. He enjoyed quality time with his children and their families and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Fellowship Reformed Church in Hudsonville, MI. Family will greet visitors 10 a.m. prior to service. In lieu of contributions, Butch had a passion for the research in and healing of cancer. Donations in his honor should be directed to the American Cancer Society.
