Theona was born in 1931 and grew up in Wyoming, MI. Her father owned a trucking company, and she married her husband, Olin, who worked for her Dad, in 1950. They raised four sons. Their family enjoyed camping, playing games, and church activities. Through the years, Olin and Theona were involved with several ministries dear to their hearts: Transport for Christ, Teen Hope, and Women’s Aglow.
Theona enjoyed being a homemaker and her house was always warm, neat, and inviting. She set a lovely table - especially on holidays. She decorated beautifully and enjoyed making flower arrangements for everyone she knew. She also had a green thumb and could make any live plant grow and flourish.
Theona was a passionate, faithful woman of God. She loved to evangelize and had a heart to disciple those that came to the Lord. She enjoyed having people over one at a time or in small groups to teach them the Word and help them grow in Christ. She was a fervent prayer warrior and always had time to pray for anyone who needed or wanted it. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with each one of them - especially the babies and little ones. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Olin Edward Richter; son, Thomas Richter; and granddaughter, Shannon.
She is survived by three sons Jerry (Barb) Richter, Jim (Deb) Richter, and Rusty (Pam) Richter; grandchildren Brent (Ronna) Richter, Julie (Matt) Roche, Brad (Krista) Richter, Courtney Richter, Amber (Dave) Dishaw, Tommy (Danielle) Richter, Andy (Erika) Richter, Adam (Emily) Richter, Jake (Jenna) Richter, Josh (Shalah) Richter, Jurnee (Joe) Long, Autumn (Ken) Vernon. She was also blessed with 34 great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “GG Ona” and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family would especially like to thank those at Faith Hospice and Vista Springs for the loving care they gave Theona in her final days. A time to visit with Theona’s family will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 4:30 - 6 p.m. at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, with a celebration of life service to start at 6 p.m. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
