On Sunday, October 16, 2022, Sandy Davis, went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Esther Tibbitts; sister, Patty Tibbitts. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Al Davis; children Craig and Lauren (Shank) Davis, Brian and Stacy (Doornbos) Davis; her beloved grandchildren Olivia, Jacob, Colin, and Reagan; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sandy will be remembered for her kind, giving, supportive, and positive attitude. She not only loved her own children, but as an educator she felt all children deserved an opportunity to thrive. She grew up in northern Michigan where she graduated from Traverse City High School. She knew at a young age she wanted to be a teacher, so after attending Grand Valley State University she married the love of her life and moved to Grandville.
She spent 25 years at Grandville Public Schools as a teacher and principal where she touched many students and colleagues' lives. She believed her sons were “perfect” and that they could do no wrong in her eyes. She was their sunshine! She enjoyed spending time with Al and her family at their cottage on Burt Lake. They would spend time boating, fishing with her grandchildren, going on long walks, and watching northern Michigan sunsets. Sandy would attend all of her grandchildren’s sporting and church events. She was their biggest fan in the stands and loved talking to everyone. She loved shopping for a “special” birthday or back to school gift every year. Sandy enjoyed winters in Florida where they biked, had “happy hour” and enjoyed their Fiesta Grove friends. Everywhere Sandy went, she touched people and made new friends; she loved organizing people together for fun, wine, and friendship.
Sandy had strong faith and she would read scripture every day. When she found out that she had cancer she never gave up the fight and knew He walked with her every step on the journey.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 2766 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to service. In honor of Sandy, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grandville Educational Foundation. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
