All my dear Tobolic children and families,
I am SO incredibly sad and sorry to hear of the loss of your dad! It takes awhile sometimes to catch up on your local news and I just heard. He was such a good man!  He always had something positive to say to me. I don't think anyone worked harder at whatever task or project he was involved in. So blessed with strong work ethic, a gift I know he wanted to pass to each of you.  Losing a p aren't is never easy.  Find peace knowing his faith was strong and that you have each other. Again, my prayers and sadness are with you.

 PART 2  -  Our Brother Mike
MORE WORDS:   Class Act,   Made the world a Better Place by Being Himself,   Always left Me Smiling.   One said he would miss the pain in the butt coming thru the door cause he knew it would make him have to work harder,  A professional,  A Perfectionist ,   Did his work Proudly,    Would Go out of his way to give someone help 

As Family, we silently knew all these things about Mike.   But we had the privilege of knowing him as cousin, uncle, grandfather, father and brother and that is priceless and can’t be put into words.   We shared and WATCHED his life.

A few years ago in Kansas City, I noticed a distinctive sign,  on the window of a classy clothing store.  I thought it was a mission statement describing the work ethic of the owner of the store.
It said:
My Father didn’t TELL me HOW to live, 
He lived and let me watch him do it.

I realize after reading these tributes and reflecting back on Mike and his life, that he indeed had a purpose on this earth.  Like he did with truck driving. and everything else, by letting us WATCH him, he was actually TRAINING us.  Mike was Training us to be better, to help others, to volunteer, to always have a sense of humor, and to have pride and purpose in all that we do .  But Mike didn’t leave a training video on YouTube, but like the sign on the clothing store  
Mike didn’t just TELL us HOW TO LIVE
Mike LIVED and let us watch him do it. 

He lived led by example, and we are all better for having watched Mike Live

Part 1

Our Brother Mike

Thank you all for honoring our brother Mike, a proud member of the Wayland community,  the Trubiroha and the Steve and Josie Tobolic Family. I could say these words but would not be able to get past the first sentence, so I wrote them.  

None of us were scheduled to be at Mike’s memorials and funeral.  We all had other obligations, work, vacations, meetings.    But we came to honor a special member of our family.  I know Mike wouldn’t want us to spend all this time just for him.   But like in life,  he did as he usually did, in his own way, he volunteered, worked, and arranged to make it possible for his family and friends to gather.   He liked arranging things for others

Over the past couple years, periodically Mike would ARRANGE for haircuts at Ken’s barbershop in Moline at like 7:30 in the morning on Saturdays.  Keep in Mind we are bald and not much hair to cut!   I thought no big deal,  but now I’m glad I had the opportunity to share these moments with Mike and sometimes Steve to have what would turn into a laugh fest and story telling, our adventures growing up, what mom and dad and our siblings would do, some of you know those stories,  and of course a lot about Uncle Cy - you could write a book.  

I  reread Mike’s memorials online and listened to the many words describing Mike, many from Coworkers, neighbors and friends,   WORDS that were used to describe Mike and how he lived:   
Great Man,   Always a Smile on His Face,  Quite Fond of Mike, Welcoming, Offering Insights,  Put others First No Matter what he may be dealing with,   Always asked how my day was going,  Privilege to Work With,   Accomplished so much at Work,   Wonderful Person, Gentleman and Gentle Man,  We Never asked for Help but Mike was Always there,    Did it out of the kindness of his heart,  Mike was Special.  Loved Truck Driving,  Loved his Kids,   Hope to be half the man Mike was,  (see Part 2)

Along with everyone else we are deeply saddened by Mike’s passing. He was definitely one of the good guys... who made a difference in this world... he always  had a smile and a kind word.
He was one of those people that in his passing, you hear everyone 
Expressing what a truly nice guy
He was and how much he will be missed. 
May He Rest In Peace.

Mike was such a kind loving person, he was more than a cousin, he was an icon to our family.  We will miss that fantastic smile and generous heart. Rest in peace Mike.  We love you, Dorothy and Kris.

To Joe, Nick, Tess, Jake, and Abbey, 

I used to babysit for all of you when you were all just born and your dad was always so proud of all of you. I would run into him at church, in a store, or on a delivery at work and he would beam just giving me updates. He was such a gentle soul and cherished his children. May the coming weeks bring you comfort as you celebrate his wonderful life. He will be dearly missed.

I grew up across the street from the Tobolic house, this is where my memories of Mike started. We must have been in 2nd or 3rd grade at the time. His family was always welcoming to anyone, and I have wonderful memories of time spent with them all. Over all these years, there are so many times I think back on our friendship and laugh at things we did. But my best memory was his standing next to me, as Best Man at my wedding. He was a true friend, no matter the circumstances. He was not only my Best Man at the wedding, but the Best Man in life. I loved you Mike and saddened that we have all lost you, for now. 

Words cannot express the depth of Mike's personality, if ever there was an Angel on earth, he was one of them. I am forever grateful for his generosity, kindness and good nature. I will miss seeing him on my trips to Wayland. May you rest in peace. Hugs and prayers to all who grieve his passing. May your memories be long and your sorrows be short. We were blessed to have had him in our lives.

We were so shocked and heartbroken 💔 to hear about Mike... our sincerest sympathy and praying for comfort to the family. 

First of all I want to say what a great man Mike was. He always seemed to have a smile on his face when he would show up to pickup freight. The problem was when Mike showed up it meant extra work for me, you see Mike loved his job and when he came with a empty trailer we packed every nook and cranny up front. He came with extra load bars on the morning he new he was coming to Sparta. I knew why we were doing it, so when it got back to the terminal they wouldn't have to monkey with the product up front but boy what a pain. My wife and I got quite fond of seeing Mike in the morning. I am really going to miss seeing that pain in the butt come through the door in the morning

I first met Mike 12 years ago when the Holland and Grand Rapids terminals merged. From the very start he was welcoming. Always offering insights on the inner workings of the Grand Rapids. What I came to admire most about Mike wasn't his skill, but rather his resilience to always ask how my day was going. Mike put others first. No matter what he may have been dealing with. Something I bet he did at home as well. Rest in peace Mike. You will be missed. 

My condolences to Mike’s family had the privilege to work with Mike for 30 years what a great guy loved working at Holland he accomplished so much at work I will miss him greatly Rest In Peace my brother 

I am so sad to hear this news.  You were such a wonderful person to work with for close to 40 yrs.  You will be missed by everyone who knew you.  You couldn't ask for a nicer gentleman.  My heart goes out to your family.  

I think we hit the jackpot with Mr. Tobolic being our neighbor. We didn’t talk much but we could always count on him to provide a big smile and wave when we crossed paths. Mike saw my husband struggling to get all the leaves with our electric leaf blower one year and next thing you know he was out there with him, helping us with his own equipment. He dug our vehicles out with a big kubota after a snowstorm, which I think he had a lot of fun using. Our Ring doorbell caught him snow blowing our sidewalk last year, he had a big smile on his face. The kids watched him through the window and he smiled and waved. We never asked for help, but Mike was always there, providing it. I always dropped off baked goods to show our appreciation but I know he did it out of the kindness of his heart. The leaves and snow falling make me sad, we will miss seeing him outside this winter. Rest In Peace, neighbor. 

What else can I say that others havent said. Mike was special, real special. I had the pleasure of being friends with the tobolic kids for 17 years. I ment mike when i was 18, He didnt think crotch rockets were cool when joe and myself borrowed his truck to pick up joes first kawasaki ninja, i was surprised he let joe hang out with me after that. Mike was not impressed haha. Over the the years he really turned around and enjoyed watching joe perform at shows and that was so great to see. Mike once cooked for 100+ people at benefit for myself after open heart surgery, he wouldnt let anyone help him, mike put 100% into everything he did. He loved his kids, he loved truck driving and was a genuine true good guy. I hope to be half the man mike was. ❤ 

Mike was always a class act.  He made the world a better place just by being himself.  I always enjoyed our conversations whenever we happened to meet up.  He always left me smiling.   RIP, Mike.

Our families intertwined thru the years starting st St Therese school.  Mike was a great guy who will be missed my his family and many friends.  He went home much too soon  

I have known Mike through work . He was the consimat professional, and a perfectionist. He put everything into his work and did it proudly. He would go out of his way to give someone help. Such a shock to hear of his passing. Going to miss you Mike. Rest in Peace and Keep on Trucking.

Mike was one of the finest people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  He was a consummate professional who worked hard, doing his best at whatever task he faced.  I'm sure it will be his smile and sense of humor that I will miss the most, though.  My deepest sympathy to the Tobolic family.

Mike took pride in everything he did and would never shy away from the opportunity to help or coach someone. He never knew what an asset he was to so many of us professionally. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

Mike was a genuine, sensitive and very caring person as well as a favorite cousin. I will miss his sweet smile and how he always made us laugh. My cherished memory will be dancing the polka with him at family weddings .We will all miss him dearly.

My sympathy to Mike’s children & siblings. Mike was one of the sweetest, kindest & loving persons. He always had a smile on his face, was friendly & found the positive in any situation. He loved his family dearly. Taken at too young an age, but God must have needed a truck driver in Heaven. May his soul Rest In Peace.

I, Linda, had the pleasure of knowing Mike for years.  Mike was a wonderful friend and co-worker.  We also lived in Wayland.  Mike had a fabulous sense of humor.  His co-workers also had great respect and fondness for this wonderful person.  He was so very proud of his children.  May you "drive on" in Heaven.  Love you and will miss you. I had the pleasure of getting to know mike through work. He took pride at what he did. He was a great person all around. RIP mike thoughts and prayers out to the family. 

I have known Mike Tobolic and other members of the Tobolic family for many years.  Mike was one of those guys who would always go out of his way to talk with me whenever our paths would cross.  He had a great sense of humor and was always an honest, friendly person.  Rest In peace Mike.  You won’t be forgotten.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike a few years ago through work. Mike’s dedication and commitment to Holland and the trucking industry will be greatly missed. Mike left a lasting impression on our meeting. Rest In Peace my friend.

Mike was a kind soul, always helping others. He could tease like no other, we loved when he stopped at the grocery store to harass John and eat all the grapes
