Marilyn Borst

Remaining to cherish her memory and tell of her loving ways are her best friend and husband of 65 years, Herbert; her children: daughter-in-law, Deborah; sons, Daniel (Sherry), David (Jan) and Douglas (Annette) Borst; and her grandchildren, Joshua (Ashley), Kristen, Phoebe, Joel, Mary Catherine, Adam, Greg (Christine), Nathan, Matthew and Camille and special great grandson, Aiden. She is also survived by sister, Lois (Peter) Hall Wolfert, brother, Dale (Marilyn) Mohr, and her in-laws, Nicholas and Ruth Borst, Gerard and Trudy Borst, Marjorie and Art Vanderweide, and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Richard, sister, Ruth Alsum, and brothers-in-law, Chuck Hall and Roger VerStrat.

She was a graduate of Ottawa Hills High School, Butterworth School of Nursing and attended the University of Michigan. Her career in Nursing spanned more than 35 years and included the specialized care of infants in the Neo-Natal Unit at Butterworth Hospital. She enjoyed swimming and was one of the early users of the Aquatic Exercise Program at Sunset Manor in her retirement years.

Marilyn was faithful all her days in her commitment to loving God, her husband and children. She showed loyalty in friendship, a zest for adventure, eagerness in learning and encouraged others in what was important to them. She was generous with her resources and her affection.

According to Marilyn's wishes, cremation has taken place. A service of worship and celebration is planned on Friday, June 22, 2012, at 11 A.M. at Fair Haven Ministries, 2900 Baldwin Street, Hudsonville, MI with Pastor Gary VanKoevering officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour before the service and welcomes memories in their guest book online at www.cookfamilycares.com.

The family also wishes to thank the wonderfully dedicated staff of Sunset and Brookcrest Christian Rehabilitation and Life Center for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions in Marilyn's honor may be made to the 'Resident Benevolence Fund' of Sunset Association, 725 Baldwin Drive, Jenison, MI 49428.
