Josephine "Jo" Florence Martin (VanDam)

Josephine “Jo” Florence Martin, age 84, went to be with her Lord, Friday, April 27, 2018. She was preceded in death by her son, David Martin; her parents, Donald and Francis VanDam; her siblings, Bernard VanDam, Kenneth VanDam, Charlene Berrington.

Jo will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Gordon Martin; their children, Connie and Mick Aldridge, Susan and Donald Crawford, Pamela and Herman Schiebout, Tracy and Randy Zomerlei; her 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; her sister Dee Bassett; and many nieces and nephews.

Jo was a Girl Scout Leader and “Grandma Jo” to many Sunday School students through her years of service. She enjoyed quilting and other crafts. One of her joys in life was traveling to Florida for the winter in retirement with Gordon, about as soon as she got down there she was eager to come home and see her family. Jo’s children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Her love for her family was only surpassed by her love for her Lord.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with Jo’s family will be held from 4 to 7 PM Monday, April 30, at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at Cook Memorial Chapel (east building). Rev. Cecil Martens will officiate. Interment will be at Floral View Memorial Gardens.
