Helen Kathleen Furlo

On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, Helen Kathleen Furlo went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 93. She was born December 9, 1928 in Two Rivers, WI to Walter E. and Helen (Richmond) Selley. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings Walter Selley, Robert Selley, Laurel Snow, and Marian McPeak. She grew up in Bay City and met and married Orlando (Londy) E. Furlo from Saginaw June 4, 1949. He survives her, and last June 4 they celebrated 73 years of marriage! They spent many years in Muskegon where they raised their children and Helen was a loving, caring wife and mother who thrived on doting over her family. She enjoyed hand-held poker and solving the puzzle on Wheel of Fortune in her later years of life. Helen also had a beautiful voice and was a beautiful artist; she used these talents throughout her life. Helen and Londy basked in their retirement years in their “paradise” in Pompano Beach, FL before relocating to western Michigan in 2013.

Survivors include four children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren: son, Londy (Monica) Furlo, their daughter, Lauren Furlo, and her children Dylan and Desmond; son, Craig (Jaruwan) Furlo, their children Matthew, Antonia, Sukkasem Chaladlumsakul, and their grandson, Titus Chaladlumsakul; daughter, Lesa (Dave) Dion, their children Nate Dion, Jamie (Geoff) Evans, and their daughter, Joelle Evans; daughter, Kelley (Scott) Schaefer, their children Allison (Josh) White, and their son, Luca and daughter, Lindsey Schaefer; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen’s family would like to thank the love and support provided daily by Sunset Manor in Jenison, MI and Spectrum Hospice. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, with visitation 10-11 a.m. prior to service.
