Erin Maria Root

Erin Maria Root, age 42, comforted by her family, went to be with her Lord Monday, November 6, 2023. Erin was preceded in death by her grandpa, John Junior Walters. She will be remembered by her husband, Chad Root; children Cole (20), Parker (18), Fiona (7), and Aspen (4); parents Dawn Walters, John Walters (Mary Lou Ohnsman); siblings Rhyan (Shane) Nelson, Jayme (Joel) Lumbert; grandparents Phil and Genie Reeves, Betty Walters; in-laws Jim and Marie Root; siblings-in-law Michelle (Mike) Gimmey, Kim (Chad) Warner, Kurt (Sharyn) Root; and nieces and nephews Weston, Ivan, Hudson, Joshua, Ariel, Gracie, Sarah, Mikehlah, Madison, Megan, Noah, and Emma.

Erin was a defiant adventurer who touched many lives with her charismatic humor and unapologetic honesty. Her prolific gardening was only interrupted by frequent camping trips in the summer and snowboarding in the winter, with Ludington being a favorite destination. Erin had many distinct seasons of her life in which her contagious personality would brighten the lives of those around her. After falling in love with Chad in 2010, the dream of being a mother was realized in 2016 and again in 2019, and she was engulfed in being a wonderful mom, which is apparent in her children.

Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. A celebration of Erin’s life will commence 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building) with visitation one hour prior to service.
