On Sunday, August 21, 2022, Donald J. Dykstra, age 86, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Dykstra; sisters Anne (Dave) Scott and Ruthie Dykstra. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Dykstra (Syswerda); son, Mark Dykstra of Grand Rapids; three cats Arthur, Tilly, and Ellen.
Don was born July 7, 1936 in Byron Township to Jacob and Caroline Dykstra. Don worked many years at Montgomery Ward and the City of Wyoming. Don was a talented man who could fix most anything. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and driving his tractors during his free time. He served as a board member on the Wyoming Housing Commission for ten years.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home (West building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to service.
