Barbara Jane Pierce

Barbara Jane Moore Pierce, lovingly known as Bubbles, BJ, Barbie, and Bobbie passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Sunday November 7, 2021 after a long battle with non-alcoholic liver disease. She was 86 years old and lived a very blessed life enjoying her sweet family, especially in her last days.

Barb was born to Harry and Eleanor Moore January 8, 1935. She was the fourth of six children, with two older brothers, Dale Moore and Chester Moore, and an older sister, Eleanor (Pat) Brokema. She was preceded in death by her three older siblings; parents; sister-in-law, Beverly Moore; and brother-in-law, Don Bronkema. She is survived by a younger sister, Ardie (Jack) Shultz; younger brother, Fred (Montie) Moore; and sister-in-law, Rogene Moore; sister-in-law, Delores Pierce (VanderBaan); and brother-in-law, Sid. She is also survived by almost 40 nieces and nephews.

Barbara's younger years were filled with fond memories of fun times with her family visiting Leland and growing up playing with her siblings. She was a vivacious, bubbly person who enjoyed skating, dancing, acting, and hanging out with friends.

After graduating from South High School, one of her friends and soon to be sister-in-law, Darlene Pierce, showed her an army photo of Darlene's brother, Gordon Pierce, who Barb fell in love with and couldn't wait to meet him when he returned from Korea. They married on September 21, 1956 and the next summer, they had their only child, a daughter, Cheryl, who was the love of their life.

Both Barb and Gordon worked for GM for over 30 years and retired to Florida in the 1980s. They returned home to Michigan for the summers to spend time with their family, including Cheryl and her husband Tim's two children - their grandchildren, Jennifer and Nathan - who they totally adored and poured much of their lives into.

They loved traveling and one of the highlights of their travels was a trip to Israel in the 1980s, as well as Egypt and Europe. They also traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and the Panama Canal over the years.

They both loved the Lord and served Him in various ways in the many churches they attended over the years.

In 2006 their granddaughter, Jennifer, married John Baker and they were happy to have another grandson in the family. In 2013 a very special arrival came with their first great-grandchild, Phenix John Baker and he was such a bright star in their lives. After Gordon went home with the Lord in June, 2017 Barbara found out she would be a great-grandmother again and in May, 2018 Brooklyn Marie Baker was born. She reminded us all so much of Barbara with her bubbly personality.

An unexpected but beautiful event for Barbara was meeting another quiet, gentle Christian man, Orestes Post Jr. when she returned to Florida to sell her home there after Gordon passed. They decided they wanted to live the rest of their lives together and married on September 23, 2018. She spent over 60 years with Gordon and then had three years with Orestes (Junior).

Barbara was a truly blessed, kind, compassionate, very generous woman who will be missed by her family and friends but we all rejoice in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and we will be reunited with her one day.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 15 at FrontLine Bible Church, 8283 Pfeiffer Farms Dr. SW, Byron Center, Michigan.
