William Isaac McHenry, 95, passed away at St. Joseph Medical Center on December 18, 2021. He was born October 29, 1926 in Saddle, Arkansas, the son of Jesse I. and Emily R. (Pulley) McHenry. Bill served with the Merchant Marines in the Pacific during World War II. Immediately following the war, he married his lifetime love, Elva Harris, on September 1, 1945. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before her homegoing in 2015.
Bill worked and retired from Armour Foods for his entire career. He was an avid bowler and joined many leagues with Elva throughout the years. He was longtime member of New Vision Christian Center where he was a Board Member and Elder. Bill was a proud veteran, proud Christian, and an especially proud great-grandfather. He left a legacy of family, gentleness, and love that will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings Curtis, Gussie, Grace, Agnes, Mattie, Loyd, Emily, Oletha, and by his grandson Derek. He is survived by his two daughters Doris McHenry Franklin (Jim) of Camden Point, MO and Deborah McHenry Cappleman (David) of Raymore, MO along with two grandchildren Dia Cappleman of Harrisonville, MO and Darren Cappleman (Roxanne) of Raymore, MO and two great-grandchildren Adelaide Christine Cappleman and Layne Isaac Davis.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 22nd from 12-1pm with the service immediately following at New Vision Christian Center, 12400 Grandview Rd, Grandview MO. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.
