She served as a Major in the U.S. Army for over 10 years and was a wartime veteran, completing 2 tours of service in Afghanistan and Iraq. As a Registered Nurse, Nancy received several awards of recognition including a Meritorious Service Medal, a Commendation Medal, an Achievement Medal, a Unit Commendation, a Defense Service Medal, Terrorism Service Medal, and a Campaign Medal. She also received a Commander’s Coin from 21st CSH.
Nancy was highly motivated, dedicated, and passionate about her work in the medical field. She took great pride in helping and healing fellow veterans, and those in the civilian world. She excelled in her education and always worked toward improving her ability to provide the best quality of care to her patients. Her academic achievements include recognition in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Trauma Nursing, Emergency Pediatric Nursing, and DMRTI Burn Course. She was especially fond of the work she did in caring for burn victims.
This caring nature extended to the welfare of animals, and she actively participated in adopting and caring for dogs and cats in need throughout her life. She was someone who was always looking for a way to make the world a little better in any small way that she could.
Nancy spent several years living in Hawaii and truly loved her time on the island working at the Tripler Army Medical Center.
We would like to dedicate a short poem, “Aloha O’e” to her memory:
Farewell to thee, farewell to thee
The charming one who dwells in the shaded bowers
One fond embrace, 'Ere I depart
Until we meet again
Sweet memories come back to me
Bringing fresh remembrances of the past
Dearest one, yes, you are mine own
From you, true love shall never depart
Nancy was a loving mother, survived by her two children Chloe Weaver and Rose Wolfe.
