Deborah passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 peacefully from Frontal Cortex Dementia. She was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on November 27, 1961. Deborah is survived by her husband, Valiant Remoaldus Croux; son Pierre Henry Robert Croux and Samantha Ann Stout, all of Belton, Missouri; daughter Danielle Elizabeth Maddiboina of Millstone Township, New Jersey; her mother Betty Jean Harshman of Renton, Washington; three brothers and three sisters; five granddaughters and three grandsons.
Deborah grew up in Racine, Wisconsin where she graduated high school, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1979. She finished basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina. Then she reported to the Communications and Electronics School in 29 Palms, California. Deborah became a Communication Center Specialist with a Top Secret clearance and assigned to the Fleet Marine Forces, Atlantic Headquarters, in Norfolk, Virginia.
Deborah married her husband, Valiant, in the Atlantic Fleet Chapel on October 25, 1980.
Deborah and Valiant were honorably discharged at the end of June 1981. They stayed with her mother, brother Lennie and later moved in with her older sister Charlene Earl. She worked for Dun & Bradstreet as a files clerk. Her son, Pierre was born in the Fort Lewis, Washington, Madigan Hospital on October 9, 1981.
She moved to Trenton, New Jersey with her husband, and worked several jobs in retail, accounting and clerical duties. Her daughter, Danielle, was born in Trenton on May 10, 1986. On September 21, 1986, her husband reported to the Marine Corps Reserve Support Command in Overland Park, Kansas. Her second daughter Samantha was born in Kansas City on August 6, 1987. She was a stay-at-home mom until they moved to New Orleans, Louisiana when her husband reported to the 4th Marine Division Headquarters in June 1991.
Deborah worked at the Live Oak Grammar School in Waggaman, Louisiana as a substitute teacher for K-5th grade. She also was the supervisor for the Before and After School Care.
In February 1996 they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Valiant reported to the Marine Corps Support Activity. Deborah had several jobs at U.S. Toy, Walmart Hypermart, Bank Midwest and finally as an Accounts Payable clerk for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City where she had a 16-year career before suffering the first verifiable episode of Dementia. Her smile and gentle nature will be missed by all.
