Sylvia Emelia Cross

Sylvia Emelia Cross (Larson) age 91 of Grand Rapids our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother passed into the loving arms of Jesus, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 just 11 days short of her 92nd birthday. She was a gentle, loving soul who lived for her family. She loved birthdays and any celebrations especially Christmas. Sylvia was a retired seamstress, having worked at the Alpine Ave. General Motors Fischer Body Plant. During her younger years she was very athletic and enjoyed acrobatics and dancing. She developed her talents and performed publicly including vaudeville at the Civic Auditorium.

Sylvia was preceded in death by husband Warren in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Hugh Larson and Henry Larson also her sister Tonny Olson.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Richard) Cline, Dennis (Karen) Cross, Don (Karen) Cross and Dan (Deb) Cross; grandchildren Julie (Tom) Mooney, Greg Levanduski, Joy (Emiel) Wilbur, Rick (Maria) Cline, Chris (Tracy) Cline, Rae Cline, Kimberly (Chad) Little, Annette (Erick) Wieda, Jodi (Chad) Meinke, Jamie (Jason) Berris, Lisa (Andy) Allen, Mike (Harmony) Cross, Amy (Vince) Umlor, Dan (Julie) Cross, David (Natalie) Cross; 21 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren.

A special thank you to the Sanctuary at St. Mary’s and for the “Keya Dance” that brought her much joy.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave N. E. with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
