Pat was graduate of Mount Mercy Academy. She subsequently obtained a Business Administration degree from Grand Rapids Community College and was a recognized member of Delta Pi Alpha.
Pat was a dedicated employee and proud of her academic achievements.
She began her professional career at Emery Air Freight, continued with Wolverine Brass Works for many years and finished her career with Frost Inc, providing them with over 30 plus years of service. In fact, Pat loved her job at Frost so much that she couldn’t stay home after retirement and had to go back, eventually retiring for her second time. This time she made it stick.
Pat was a strong, loving and very giving person. She was always there to help support her family, friends and community. She was a longtime active member of St James Catholic Church until its closing. She participated regularly on the funeral luncheon committee, fundraisers and other community outreach programs over her many years there. Following the closing of St James, she attended both St Adalbert’s Basilica and St Anthony’s Catholic Church where she felt very by welcomed by their communities.
Pat was also a member of the American Legion Post 47 and an avid Chicago Bears Fan! She wasn’t a big gambler but would certainly entertain a bet there with Larry taking the Bears over the Lions every time.
Pat moved to Port Charlotte, Florida earlier this year so that she could spend more time with Buzz, Jill and Noah and resided at Brookdale Rotonda.
The family would like to thank all the caring staff at Brookdale Rotonda for their kind and compassionate care of Pat. We would further like to express our gratitude to the staff of Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte, Florida for providing expert care, comfort and compassion during her final journey on earth.
Pat is survived by her children, Denise Van Portfliet and Buzz and Jill Baldwin, her grandchildren Jackie Kuikstra and Noah Baldwin, great grandchildren Alissa and Madison Diltz and Chase Hartley, many cousins, neighbors and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband and best friend Bill, her grandson Dan Diltz, son-in-law Tom Van Portfliet and her special friend Ed Fish.
Visitation for Pat will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where a Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
