Today, Michael Thomas O’Connor took God’s hand and peacefully entered his heavenly home after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Awaiting Mike’s homecoming with open arms were his loving parents, John & Stella O’Connor, many dear aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike will be greatly missed by his brother John (Pat) O’Connor; his sister Cathy (Tom) Lileikis; his nieces and nephews: Robin (Todd) Hoppe, Molly (Jeff) Staniszewski, Drew (Lu) O’Connor, Kevin (Katelyn) O’Connor; great-nieces and nephews and a host of beloved cousins. Mike also leaves behind Claudia and his special friends who became family over the years at his AFC home.
Despite Mike’s lifelong challenges with mental illness, he had a very gentle, positive spirit, kind heart, and he found joy in the simplest of things. Mike was an inspiration in his own quiet way. He was humble, caring and touched many hearts. His family is thankful that Mike has finally found the comfort and peace he so deserves.
Visitation for Mike will be held on Tuesday December 6, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where a rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Roberts Catholic Parish on Wednesday December 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
