Marcia Mary Barber

Marcia Mary (Canfield) Barber, age 83, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Mary Canfield; sister, Patricia Prior; and brothers, Jim Canfield and David Canfield. Marcia will be missed dearly by her children, Scott Barber, Mark Barber, Dennis (Sandra) Barber, Elizabeth Thomas, and John (Lisa) Barber; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Canfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marcia grew up in Grand Rapids and was a proud 1953 graduate of Catholic Central. She would later go on to retire from the Grand Rapids Public Schools after 30 years of dedicated service. In Marcia’s later years, she enjoyed camping and volunteering her time at the Pregnancy Resource Center. Most importantly, she was a loving Mother, Grandma, and Great-Grandma with every ounce of her heart. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 5-8 PM at Reyers North Valley Chapel, with a Rosary at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11 AM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Parish, 224 Carrier NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Another time of visitation will be 1 hour prior to the Mass beginning at 10 AM at the church.
