Catherine A. Davidson went home to the Lord on November 17, 2018 in Anchorage, Alaska. Catherine was born in Detroit, Michigan to John and Catherine (Healy) Davidson on May 30, 1951. Two years later Catherine welcomed a brother, Michael then three years later they welcomed a sister, Patricia. Catherine spent her early years in Michigan and graduated from the University of Detroit. She had a variety of early careers as a journalist, a VISTA volunteer, a para-legal but after obtaining a Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of Arizona she began her final career as the Alaskan U.S. Courts Librarian until her retirement in 2017. As expected, given her profession, Catherine loved books and loved to read. She was equally passionate about traveling. Some travel was simply for an adventure, while other travel was to visit with family.
Catherine was an aunt to Tara Daetwiler, Trevor Davidson and Ginger Castenholz and a great aunt to their children. She enthralled her great nieces and nephews with the magic present genie bag that would accompany her on family visits. She also enjoyed spending time with her uncle and many cousins. Her interest in family led her to researching family history through historical documents and records as well as at on-site locations.
Catherine was a good friend to many and had a special talent of maintaining those friendships for many decades and over great distances. After being raised in Michigan, she tried living in other states, but it was in Alaska that she truly found her home.
Catherine is survived by her brother, Michael Davidson, his wife Nancy Davidson, their three children and nine grandchildren, by her sister Patricia and her uncle, James Healy.
There will be a viewing at Reyers North Valley Chapel Funeral Home on Sunday November 25th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and a funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at noon on Monday November 26th.
