Wanda June Spencer, age 86, passed away on November 10, 2021. She was born in Quail, Texas on June 1, 1935 to Wayne T. and Carrie Melton. She was raised in Borger, Texas graduating from Borger High School in 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, Chester (Choppy) Spencer that same year, and subsequently attended Oklahoma A&M together with her husband. Upon graduation, they lived in several places before settling in Grand Prairie, Texas where they raised their daughter, Stephanie. They were married almost 68 years.
Wanda was a school teacher for seven years before she retired to spend time with her family, friends and enjoy the hobbies she loved. Wanda ("Wandi" to her grandkids) loved her family and always made time for them, but she never wanted to miss a party either. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, bowling, going to "Birthday Club," attending church and traveling to the mountains with family and friends. Wanda will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness and her infectious smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne T. and Carrie Melton. She is survived by her husband, Chester Spencer, Jr.; her daughter, Stephanie Poticny (Dan); her grandchildren Todd Poticny (Marci), Taylor Althausen (Ryan); great grandchildren Myles and Mitch; sister Susie Lindsey (Tommy); several nieces and a nephew; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
A visitation is being held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75052. Her funeral service is being held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home. Followed by Committal services at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
