Ronald Gene Williams of Grand Prairie, Texas died Sunday January 26, 2020 at Medical City Arlington. He was born the seventh son of Flora Kathryn Potter and Chester Harvey Williams. Raised in a farm community of Council Valley, Ronnie played football and graduated from Yale High School in 1962.
He married his high school sweetheart Alice Lee Martin, and to this union two sons were born. Moving to Grand Prairie in April 1964, Ronnie worked various jobs during his lifetime including industrial x-ray, vending company, self taught himself carpentry skills and learned the installation of carports, patio covers and rooms working with his brother Dean. The last 14 years he enjoyed and loved telling stories of his travels of the continental U.S. and Canada as a long haul truck driver for Stevens Transport.
Ronnie loved to hunt and train his birddogs. He assisted coaching the little league football teams his sons played on in grade school.. One of his most memorable camping trips was riding through Yellowstone National Park on horseback with his wife Alice Lee, brother, Richard, sister-in-law, Rosalee, and nephew, Mitch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Lea, and brothers Lawrence, Billy, Dean, and Jackie. His son Mike died in 2017 of a long battle of cancer.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 58 years Alice Lee and son Rodney (Rod) of the home, Kim Blake "The daughter we never had" and mother of grandchildren Tiffany Williams-Ross (Nathan) of Grand Prairie and Chris Williams of Austin, grandson Tyler of Macon, Georgia, great grandchildren Conner, Rania, and Sophie, brothers Richard of Powell, Wyoming and Jerry of Lawrence, Kansas and many nieces and nephews. He will surely be missed by all of his family.
