Mary grew up in Whitewright, TX where she graduated from Whitewright High School in 1944. After high school she moved to Grand Prairie to live with an aunt where she worked at a factory. Mary also worked for Sears in Dallas.
On May 4, 1946 she married Rudolph Dewayne Bridges after meeting him through her cousin. They moved into a house in N.E. 33rd St and had 5 children. Dewayne was a square dance caller, so the two of them enjoyed square dancing and traveling around to the different conventions. They also enjoyed traveling in their motor home, taking cruises and visiting overseas where Rudolph served in the military.
Mary retired from Grand Prairie ISD as a food supervisor. She worked at several different schools and made special delivery’s to Shady Groove Special Needs School. She enjoyed croqueting Afghans for her children and grandchildren, cooking, doing genealogy and talking with her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother and a loving grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Mary was a member of West Ridge Baptist Church of Grand Prairie for over 50 years.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Rudolph Dewayne Bridges; great-grandson Rex D. Bridges; siblings Frances Bullard, Emaline Homes, Dene Haston and Larry Wayne Bennett.
She is survived by her children Ronald D. Bridges and his wife Nancy, Richard D. Bridges and his wife Mary, Gary S. Bridges and his wife Ranell, JoAnn Bridges, Janice M. Bridges; grandchildren: Russell D. Bridges and his wife Catherine, Rachel D. Bridges, Richard D. Bridges and his wife Kristen, Ryan C. Bridges and his wife Erin, Ausitn L. Bridges; great-grandchildren: Rusten D. Bridges, Brice G. Bridges; siblings: Marie McHargue, James Bennett, Rebecca Youngblood, Wilbert Bennett, Linda Malone and Brenda J. Turner.
Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2015 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home at 10:30am with interment to follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
