Joe Charles Ramsey, 68, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Malcom and Edith (Locke) Ramsey. Joe was born in Midland, Texas, on January 27, 1949. He graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1967. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United Stated Air Force as a staff sergeant from 1967 to 1975. He served three tours in the Vietnam War while stationed in Thailand. He also met and married Pamela. They were married in Dallas, Texas on January 27, 1973. After his military service Joe worked as a production scheduler for Dresser Industries for over 20 years. The next few years were spent seeing the country as a national hot-shot delivery driver before retiring.
Joe was very active as a deacon, treasurer, and an all-around “go to” guy in his congregation at Freetown Road Church of Christ for over 38 years.
He passionately watched Nascar, football, and baseball. He truly enjoyed times spent with Pam and their friends, going out to dinner, travelling or just competitively playing 42. Everyone who knew him knew how much he loved fishing and his fishing buddies - even if three of these trips did result in submerged boats.
Above all, he loved his time spent being “Pepaw” to his 4 beautiful grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Pamela (Horton); two daughters, Amber Dyer and husband Kyle of Grapevine, Texas, Ashley Martinez and husband Sam of Arlington, Texas, his sister Peggy Durban and husband Neal of Trinidad, Texas, and grandchildren Rylee McClellan, Ramsey Martinez, Jaxson Martinez, and Charlee Martinez, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
