Douglas Claude Leverett, age 87, resident of Grand Prairie 56 years, passed away July 1, 2013. He was born December 7, 1925. Douglas married LaVora Maye Wynn of Weatherford, TX September 20, 1946 (66 years). He served in World War II as a nose gunner in a B24 bomber with thirty-two missions over Europe. Douglas also served in the Korean War and finished his military career as a Staff Sargeant. He earned a Sublime Degree of a Master Mason Lodge No. 1031 and was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, TX. Douglas was self-employed with Industrial Catering of Grand Prairie for 27 years. Survived by: wife Lavora Leverett; daughter Dianne Welch, son-in law Jim Welch; granddaughters Susan Bishop of Midlothian, Jami Bicknell of Little Elm; five grandchildren Emily Bishop, Ethan Bishop, James Bishop, Allison Bicknell, and Kaylee Bicknell; Sister Mackey Lou Lunsford of Sunnyvale CA. Funeral Service will be at Inglewood Baptist Church in Grand Prairie at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be 2:30 p.m., Friday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.Pallbearers for service are: Harold Cheatheam, Ryan Pinson, Adam Bishop, Tim Bicknell, Cole Foley, Terry Wynn.
