Cindi was born to Tommie and David Chapin on May 30, 1972, in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Mesquite, Texas and graduated from North Mesquite High School in 1990. After high school, Cindi earned her Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in education from East Texas State University in 1994, where she was also an active member of Kappa Delta sorority.
It was during her time at East Texas State University that she met the love of her life, Kevin Scott Fisher. They married on September 24, 1994. Soon, Kevin and Cindi’s home and hearts grew with the birth of their first son, Collin in 1995, their son Ryan in 1997, and their daughter Natalie in 2001.
Cindi began her career in early education as a teacher in Terrell, Texas, soon to be hired on by Mesquite ISD, during which time she earned her Master of Education from Texas A & M Commerce in 2004.
As Cindi continued in education, her heart pulled her to a very specific area, to work with the hearing impaired. Cindi earned her certification in American Sign Language and soon moved into her dream of working in Deaf Education with Dallas Independent School District. This community became a huge part of Cindi’s life and an extension of her family. She joyfully continued her education and spent much of her free time advocating for and supporting the deaf community.
Cindi’s pride and joy were her children, her marriage and large, extended family. She will be missed and remembered for her infectious laugh, Christmas sugar cookies and the pink lemonade pie she had at every family gathering.
Cindi is loved and celebrated by her family including her husband Kevin Fisher of Grand Prairie, Texas; her son Collin Fisher and wife Perla of Fort Worth, Texas; her son Ryan Fisher and wife Lauren of Grand Prairie, Texas; her daughter Natalie Fisher of Grand Prairie Texas; her stepson Jared Lane and wife Nerissa of New Braunfels, Texas; and her father, David W. Chapin of Fate, Texas.
Cindi is also survived by her 2 grandchildren, Avery Lane and Gabi Lane of New Braunfels, Texas; her brother David Chapin and wife Charla of Houston, Texas; her brother Rodney Chapin and wife Leslie of Fate, Texas; her brother-in-law Byron Fisher and wife Donna of Bullhead City, Arizona; her sister-in-law Jodi Foster Jenkins of Fort Worth, Texas; as well as several aunts and uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
