After fifty years in Leadville, she and her sweet husband Ben moved to Grand Junction in 2006. Early in 2015 it was decided that they needed more care and went to live at La Villa Grande Care Center.
Her beloved Ben passed into glory 5 years ago, and Ruth continued to bless the halls of the care center with her sweet smiles, loving conversations, and beautiful song. She hummed and sang for all. She was loved dearly by the staff and the residents, alike.
Throughout her Leadville years, she could always be found in church, whenever the doors were open, worshipping and praying deeply for all. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years… a mentor to many.
Her home was always open to all… to anyone who needed a meal or a place to stay. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and soul, and it always showed in her face, her life, and in her deep concern for others.
She was born in Milford Nebraska on April 5th, 1924. She was the second of ten children and all but two have gone before her.
She is survived by her sisters Fern Smith of Lincoln, NE (many nieces and nephews) and Alice Herbst of Grand Island, NE.
She was predeceased by her husband Ben of 61 years, and her son, Everett Jardee.
She was many things to many people, and I have to add a side note here. Ruth was like a mom to me, for almost 40 years… she mentored me and my children, and loved us like we were her own. We were inseparable for years, holiday dinners were spent together… journeys to different places just to find a new place to have lunch. She always had such words of wisdom… such understanding. The prayer warrior… I never knew anyone who was closer to our Lord than her.
She will be sorely missed for a very long time.
