Bob was born on April 13, 1951, in Inglewood, California, to Fredrick and Mildred (Boogaard) Walsh. He grew up in California, living in Norco, and Anaheim, Yucca Valley. As a teen, he spent some time in Laramie, Wyoming before moving to Golden, Colorado to work in the mines. Bob was drafted into the US Army, serving in El Paso, Texas, and Germany. It was in El Paso that he married the love of his life, Sarah Swegler, on October 24, 1975. The couple lived in a short time in Golden, and then moved to California, living in Landers, Yucca Valley, and Perris. Bob and Sarah moved back to Colorado and spent some time in Arvada, before settling in Mack and Loma, where they have spent the last 44 years.
Bob attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction where he earned his Bachelor of Arts, with a specialty in Ceramic Art. Throughout his lifetime, he was a soldier, miner, farrier, and ceramic artist. He was an avid horseman and a cowboy- and that was his first love. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting with his treasured hunting dogs and his precious children and grandchildren, fishing, shooting, traveling (including road trips and cruising), teaching, four wheeling, restoring old Willys jeeps, and leathercraft. But more than anything, he loved time with family and friends. Bob was always there with a smile, laughter, and a helping hand. He was bigger than life with his contagious enthusiasm for everything that came his way. And sometimes the detours of life became Bob’s favorite journeys.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sarah of Mack; sons, Allen (Ashlee) Walsh of Littleton, and Chris Walsh; daughters, Michelle Higgins of Tucson, Arizona, SarahBeth (Richard) Moores of Loma, and April Smith; brother, David Walsh of Landers, California; and 13 grandchildren.
