Olive Ruth Bishop

Olive was born on June 7, 1937 in Fruita, Colorado, from the union of Irvin and Ruth Bartholomew.

She spent her childhood in the Grand Junction, Colorado area and attended Grand Junction High School and then Mesa Community College.

Olive worked early on at Mountain Bell Telephone, and then worked for many years at Montgomery Wards Department Store in downtown Grand Junction. After Montgomery Wards closed, she went to work for the C.D. Smith Company, a wholesale distributor for drug and convenience stores. She finished her working career for School District 51 in the school lunch program until her retirement.

Olive was an active member of the Good Sam's RV Club. A lover of the outdoors, she spent her time camping and gardening. Olive cared for her family very much, and loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and close friends.

She married Norman Bishop on June 20, 1958 in Grand Junction CO, her loving husband of sixty-three years whom preceded her in death.

Olive was the oldest of 2 children. She is preceded in death by her brother Raymond Bartholomew.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Laura) Bishop of Grand Junction; two daughters, Pamela Bishop of Grand Junction, and Shauna (Duane) Knapp of Eckert, Colorado. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Trenton (Ginger) Wilson, Phillip (Jill) Wilson, Kyle (Jessica) Bishop and Kirsten (Carol) Bishop; and seven great-grandchildren, Kian, Chloe, Jameson, Kaylee, Kinsley, Allison and Tena.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday October 7, 2022 at 1:00 pm, with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
