Mary Alice Borden passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on May 3, 2018. Mary was born in Eureka, MT, to Leonard and Mary Doherty. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Metcalf; second husband, James Borden; and her daughter, Rae Marie Puderbaugh.
Family was the focus of her life; she loved to cook, garden, sew, and play bridge. She baked and decorated elaborate, multi-tier wedding cakes for her children and many friends.
She was gregarious and enjoyed planning large family events. Mary would do anything for those she loved, and spoiled many poodles over the years. She was strong and independent and expected the same from her children, but also had a compassionate heart for those in need, and became a mother figure to many.
Mary is survived by her daughters: Carol Seeley (Jim) of Lincoln City, OR; Patty Scaggs (Joe) of Johnstown, CO; and Rita Borden (Bert Harclerode) of Flagstaff, AZ; and sons: Michael (Melynda Brooks) of Los Alamos, NM; and Lee Borden of Grand Junction. She loved and cherished her twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, with her favorite always being the youngest one. At Mary's request, the family will have a celebration of her life in Montana in late summer.
If you wish to make a contribution in Mary's memory, please consider HopeWest, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506, or your local hospice.
