Gary Gene Strickland

July 14, 1938 – November 18, 2016

Gary Gene Strickland of Loraine, TX, formerly of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away November 18, 2016 at the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit in San Antonio, Texas, he was 78.

Gary was born on July 14, 1938 in Los Angeles, California from the union of James E. Stricklin and Pearl Studebaker and spent his childhood in Los Angeles.

Gary was a Pressman for thirty–five years working for The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, California and Colorado Printing in Grand Junction, Colorado. His family was the main focus of his life and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, jeeping, snowmobiling and using his hands to build all sorts of things.

He married Linda Green on March 7, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nevada and from this union three children were born.

Gary leaves behind his wife of fifty seven years; Linda A. Strickland of Loraine, Texas, three children; Scott Allen Strickland of San Diego, California, Steven Owen (Tanya) Strickland of Grand Junction, Colorado, Shelly Ann (Gary) Martin of San Antonio, Texas, a brother, Randy Roach of Bloomington, California, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Kenneth and Robert.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Martin Mortuary with burial to follow at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
