Gary spent his childhood in Herriman, Utah and graduated from Bingham High School and attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah where he attained his Bachelors Degree in Business.
Gary was in Business Management and was a Published Author.
One of Gary's most cherished experiences was when he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan. He often spoke of his love for the people he served, and he continued that service in many capacities and callings within his church, sharing his testimony of the Savior with others through word and deed.
Gary was a dedicated Utah Utes alumnus; he enjoyed watching all sports and followed "his" Utes' team and many others through their greatness and not-so-greatness. During his life, he always showed an incredible work ethic. As a young man, he started work bagging groceries at Peterson's market when he was 14. After he finished college, he and Angela moved to Phoenix, AZ, where Gary got a job working at Sears as a supervisor. They then took their talents to Boise, ID, where Gary got a job with Micron in business management. In 2020 Micron suffered setbacks, and Gary embraced the opportunity to pursue his dream and become an author. Gary published his first book, Adventures of the Intergalactic Service Club Book One: Journey of Discovery. The sequel was scheduled to be published at a future date.
Gary became an Eagle Scout at a young age and served as a Scoutmaster in Boise for many years. He loved serving the youth, helping them learn and acquire skills that would make them exceptional members of our communities. Some of the most cherished experiences his family and friends have are those with Gary hiking, fishing, or camping.
Gary is one of 10 siblings. Brothers; Gregg Kelly (Jolean) Johnson of Salina, UT, Gavin H. (Brenda) Johnson of Frisco, TX, William Garland “Willy” Johnson (deceased), Charles M. Johnson of Magna, UT, Jacob M. (Anika) Johnson of West Jordan, UT. He will be missed by his 30 nieces and nephews, their spouses, and numerous great nieces and nephews that adored him. Gary would drive hours to see them compete in sports, receive awards, and simply be there to engage and play with them. Gary greatly valued his family and made countless efforts to make memories and build those relationships here on earth to be cherished throughout the eternities.
