Donald N. (Don) Hope passed away quietly at an assisted living facility in Moses Lake on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the age of 93. Don was born in Spokane, Wash.,on January 21, 1921 to Charles and Helen Hope.
Don was inducted into the Army on July 9, 1942, and honorably discharged on November 7, 1945. Don was a member of the US Army Air Corps and served in Italy and North Africa. A portion of this service he had the privilege of acting as Major General Jimmy Doolittle's driver.
Upon Don's discharge from the Army he met and married Margaret (Peggy) Morin on October 12, 1946 and were married for 63 years. He worked at and retired from the Bonneville Power Administration after 30 years service in the Coulee Dam Area.
Don is survived by his son James P. Hope of Gig Harbor, Wash and his daughter Gayle J. Kenerson of Denver Co. Five grandchildren: Wendi Simons of Coulee Dam, Carissa Hope of Soap Lake, Jessica Kenerson of Denver, Co, Katherine Kenerson of Miami Fl. and Cynthia Hope of Gig Harbor, Wash. Three great-grandchildren, Travis Hope of Soap Lake, Isabelle Michaels of Gig Harbor and Monroe Maxwell of Denver, Colorado.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Peggy in 2009.
Grave side services were held at Spring Canyon Cemetery on Monday, June 2.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations by made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
