Wendy M. Kirt

Wendy Mitchell Kirt, 56, of Grand Blanc, Michigan left this world at peace and finally pain-free on Monday morning, September 21, 2020, after aggressive treatment for Stage-4 Pancreatic Cancer. She is survived by her husband, Brad Kirt and daughter Sydney Kirt. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Mitchell. Other survivors include her mother, Della Mitchell, Tucson, Arizona, sister Kristie Mitchell (Ski Kowalski), Utrecht, Netherlands, sister Becky Tanner (Todd), Tucson, Arizona, brother, Scott Mitchell, SLC, Utah, mother-in-law, Ann Deemer (Dave), Fenton, Michigan, father-in-law Ken Kirt (Sharon), Lennon, Michigan, brother-in-law, Kenny Kirt, Fenton, Michigan, sister-in-law Terri Mondeau (Darrell), Grand Blanc, Michigan, sister-in-law Kristen Shaedig (Erik), Ann Arbor, Michigan, and nieces and nephews Brock, Mitchell, and Wyatt Tanner, Josh, Haylee, Ashleigh, Madison and Zach Mitchell, Teagan and Duncan Mondeau, and Aurelia and Henry Schaedig. Wendy was born December 16, 1963 in Phoenix, Arizona. She lived much of her formative years in Utah, graduating from Springville High School in 1983. She loved sports and was a natural athlete, competing in basketball, volleyball, and track. She reconnected with running later in life. She relishedthe competition, the community, and of course, the picking up the medal at the end of the race. She ran the 10-mile Crimand 200-mile Bourbon Chase several times and countless half-marathons, 10ks, and 5ks, which she has the medals to prove.

Wendy lived in a number of places before calling Michigan home. It was there, that she met the love of her life, Brad. The two of them spent 22 wonderful years together. They enjoyed anything outdoors, whether it was fishing, camping, boating, or just hanging out around a fire. They vowed when their daughter Sydney was born, they would pack her up and take her with them wherever they went, and they did. She loved coaching her daughter, Sydney, in basketball and watching her play tennis and golf. Wendy spent the first half of her career life in retail management and the second half in quality assurance and engineering. Thank you to the wonderful team at Genesee Polymers for treating Wendy like family. Wendy was a champion of the underdog and was passionate about standing up for anyone she felt was marginalized in society. Be it children who were bullied in her elementary school classrooms or groups of people she felt were being treated unfairly. Wendy was someone you wanted in your corner and who had your back, no matter what. Wendy had a wicked sense of humor and loved to laugh more than anything. She believed in love and cherished her family and tribe of friends. Her ability to love unconditionally and kind heart touched the lives of many people. Thank you to all of Wendy's Warriors who have been on this path with her. She received countless calls, cards, messages, well wishes, and offers to help out from around the world. Life is short, live it to the fullest. The family thanks the many caregivers for their kindness, caring, and treatment of her cancer: Genesee Cancer & BloodDisease Treatment Center, Ascension Genesys Hospital, and Ascension at Home Hospice. A small private memorial was held by the family who asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or a charity of your choice.
