GREVE, Wayne G. – age 90, passed away on September 2, 2018 surrounded by family in Clarkston, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Flint Central Church of the Nazarene – 1261 W. Bristol Road, Flint, Michigan. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Wayne was born on July 28, 1928 to the late William and Leeta Greve on the campus of Spring Arbor University. After graduating from Spring Arbor Seminary, Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy; he served on three different ships. In 1948, upon his return from the military he continued his education starting at Owosso College completing his ministerial certification. He then received a Bachelor of Arts from Adrian College, Master of Arts plus 30 from Eastern Michigan University, Doctorate in Education from the International Graduate School, and an Honorary PhD in administration from the Institute for Professional Studies. Wayne was the interim Pastor of Grace Church in Detroit, Hillcrest Nazarene in Pontiac, Senior Pastor of Clintonville Nazarene, and founder and Senior Pastor of Christ Community Church of the Nazarene in Goodrich, MI. Wayne also served on the Judicial Committee of the Indianapolis District. On June 18, 1964, Wayne married the love of his life, Marilyn Dickerson. Together they created a life full of happiness, love, and compassion for others. Wayne enjoyed every moment spent outdoors from farming to construction to planting trees wherever he could. He was an avid game hunter and a prolific reader. Wayne loved to share his own stories; he authored at least one book and one musical drama. He loved dogs, especially his Labrador retriever, Thunder Von Wandsbeck. Wayne was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed by those who were touched and changed through his impact and love. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Rodney (Heather); sisters, Lois Jewell, Arleeta Sanders, Sharon Rummage; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Leeta Greve; and brother, Orville Greve. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wayne G. and Marilyn J.
