Mary Ann Agnes Sheehan, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. She was born February 14, 1938 in the Mt. Airy area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents Martin P. and Rose (Murray) Hogan.
After graduating from Cecilian Academy High School for Girls, she took her nurses’ training at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, graduating in 1959. That same year she entered the Medical Mission Sisters at their headquarters in Fox Chase Philadelphia. On completion of her anesthesia courses at Misericordia Hospital, Mary Ann took her first assignment as part of the staff of Holy Family Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh where she remained there through 1967.
Mary Ann moved to Michigan in 1969 and continued her vocation as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist enjoying long careers at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Flint, Michigan as well as at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Very active in her church and faith life, Mary Ann spent countless hours at Our Lady of Lebanon church in Flint especially with the Maronite Youth Organization, and also as a member of the Altar Society and the Liturgical Committee. Her ongoing commitment of developing her personal faith and service to others was a common thread throughout her life and her impact on those that crossed her path was immeasurable.
Mary Ann is survived by her three children Kerriaine Hughes, Megan (Edward) Sindelar, and William Sheehan, her son-in-law Patrick Hughes, and daughter-in-law Jenna Sheehan. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Mairin Kennedy Hughes, Molly Rose Sheehan, Kathryn Hogan Hughes, Ruby Marie Sindelar, Luella Grace Sheehan, Eddie Anton Sindelar, and Dahlia Mae Sindelar. She adored her cousins Patrick (Mary Jo) Hogan and Carol (Ron) Turiello, along with her beloved sisters-in-law, three nephews, two nieces, numerous lifelong friends, and her most recent community at Sunrise Assisted Living in Troy, Michigan. She was preceded in death by both of her parents Martin P. and Rose Hogan as well as her sisters Patricia Francis Hogan, and Helen Marie Hogan.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Rd. Flint, Michigan. Officiants include Bishop Gregory John Mansour Eparchy of Saint Maron of Brooklyn, Father Pierre Bassil, and Deacon Joseph Pavlovich.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 3-8pm at Hill Funeral home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Interment at the New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
