On October 17, 2021, Laurie Jean Janus Bouchillon went home to be with the Lord and rejoin her heavenly family. Laurie was born on January 7, 1958 in Detroit, MI to Walter and Adeline Janus. She married shortly after high school and helped raise three sons; instilling love, fairness, and self-discipline. Laurie was blessed with 11 beloved grandchildren who were the joy of her life. Above all, Laurie knew and loved the Lord; she exemplified what it means to be a light to the world.
Laurie found joy in so many things in life. She loved the outdoors; especially planting flowers, growing fresh vegetables in her garden, and laying out on the deck by the pool during the summers. She enjoyed traveling and would often recount fondly, traveling with her parents and siblings and later, her own family. A lover of music and how it could transform her day, Laurie could often be found singing to her favorite songs while riding in her car, cleaning, or just enjoying time with family and friends.
Most importantly, and central to who she was, Laurie loved being a Mom and Busia. Nothing brought her more joy than being around family. The walls of her home, covered with pictures of her kids and grandkids, she would tell everyone who would listen how proud of them she was. Laurie never missed a chance to sing happy birthday to all of them, and made sure they all felt special. She would change everything planned in her day at a moment's notice, to help or spend time with her kids and grandkids. She always found a way to make the day fun with them; taking the opportunity to play games, watch movies, and lots of time laughing together.
Laurie had a truly joyful outlook on life. Often sharing a story and a laugh, she always passed on her joy to others that she met. Laurie is kept in memory by her 3 sons, Jayson (Tara), James (Natasha) and Kyle (Sara), her 11 grandkids, sister Shirley (Art), brother Bob (Edith), and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Her wishes were that her time here would be a celebration and filled with happiness, and will be celebrating her life on Monday, October 25, 2021. We will be welcoming guests starting at 1:00pm and will celebrate her life in a service starting at 6:30pm at Hill Funeral Home at 11723 S. Saginaw St in Grand Blanc, MI.
