Center Rd. Burton, MI. Rev. Fr. Matthew Peter Butrie officiating. Interment
at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
with a Parastas Service to be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at the Brown Funeral Home1480 E. Hilll Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. and
Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Joseph was born
September 6, 1916 in Flint, MI to Czech parents Joseph A. and Theresa
(Malec) Eckert. On September 1, 1942 Joe married Mary Ananich. He
received his early training in Music at the age of six, when his father began
teaching him the violin. Polka music has always been the center of Joe’s
family and he enjoyed the reunions and gatherings of his family at which
time all the musical members of the family provided the music they all
love. Joe became a member of the Polka Hall of Fame in 1988. Joe retired
from the Personnel Department of Fisher Body in 1977 after 42 years of
service. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II for three and a half years
in the European Theatre. Joseph is survived by children Joseph A. (Kyle)
Eckert, James (Sherrie) Eckert; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife Mary; daughter
Joanne and two sisters. Contributions will be made to Joe’s favorite
charities.
