John Arthur Decker

DECKER, JOHN ARTHUR age 67, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 2:30 P.M Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. John was born December 29, 1948 to parents Arthur and Evelyn (Krage) Decker. John was known as “Papa” to all of those near and dear to him. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. John loved to hunt, read western books and had an undying faith and love for the Detroit Tigers. He retired from Chevrolet Truck and Bus in 2000. Surviving are loving children Michele Sue Decker, Janette Marie Decker; doting grandfather of Kathryn Michele Decker; brothers Jim (Kay) Decker, Rick Decker, Bill Decker and Jeff Decker; sister-in-laws Sharon McCraw, Marilyn Ohler and Janice Houghtelling; brother-in-law Jim Houghtelling. Many nieces and nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews whom all loved him dearly. Papa had great stories and loved a good joke. He shared his wisdom and always had time for a listening ear. He will be greatly missed by all. Rest in peace we love you. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family via Janette Decker.
