James H. Brian

The family will greet guests from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw, Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W. Bristol Rd., Flint. Visitation from 10:00am until time of service at church. Rev. Rob Prince and Dr. Steve Anthony officiating.

Jim was born in Pontiac, Michigan on January 19, 1937, the son of the late Howard and Gladys McCall Brian. He graduated from Waterford Twp. High School and earned his Bachelor Degree from Olivet Nazarene University and his Master's Degree from Michigan State University.

A member of Central Church of the Nazarene for 51 years, Jim had the privilege of singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School, as well as serving on the church board for many years.

His professional career consisted of working in public education. He taught in the districts of Kankakee, Illinois, along with Waterford, Bloomfield Hills, and Burton in Michigan. Jim was also an elementary school principal in Burton, Michigan.

Many sports were always of interest to Jim; he participated in softball in high school as well as college. He also enjoyed golf, boating, and followed college football and basketball.

Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Brenda Starr Brian. He also leaves a daughter, Michelle Kay (Bill) Webster; a son, John Starr (Laurie Eppler) Brian; his grandchildren: Will Webster, Erin Webster, Noah (Kaitlyn Burda) Webster, Alexandra Brian Kossow (Meghan Kossow), and Jordan Brian Reusser (Kellen Reusser). Other family members were very special to him, including: nephews and nieces, Bruce Brian ( Becky Watts Brian), Brent Brian (Martha Mitchell Brian), Steve Champion (Kerri Champion), and Cheryl Champion Cullen.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Todd James Brian.
