Dennis Owen

OWEN, Dennis J. Age 72, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at McLaren – Flint. Mr. Owen was born July 4, 1940 in Flint the son of William and Bertha (Dubie) Owen. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, served as an Altar Boy and graduated from Holy Redeemer High School. He was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Fenton for many years. He also resided in Fenton on Ponemah Dr. for 30 years. Mr. Owen worked for General Motors Fisher Body Division Plant 1 then transferred to the SPO Plant retiring after 35 years of service. Dennis loved gardening, shopping and was an avid couponer. He enjoyed life and loved to laugh. Surviving are his children, Denise (Richard) Wise, Mechelle Charles, Lisa Berlin, Thomas Owen; grandchildren, Cassie, Curtis, Chelsea, Devon, Kyle, Courtney and Curren; great granddaughter, Skyler; former wife, Patricia Owen; brothers and sisters, William Owen Jr., Constance (James) Rothley, Rita (Richard) Russ, Michael (Paula) Owen, Theresa (Lou) Koslowski, Mary Catherine (Byron [Butch]) Bean; and many, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Owen was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Bertha Owen, sister, Christine and son-in-law, James. Friends may visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 12 noon Monday at Brown Funeral Home 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. A Vigil Service will be held 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be 12 noon Monday, August 6, 2012 at the funeral home. Father Gary McInnis will officiate. Burial will follow at Tyrone Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
