Alexis was born February 3, 1951 to the late William and Helen (Karacosta) Anagnos in Knoxville, Tennessee. Alexis was prominently known for her dedication and hard work to the Grand Blanc Fire Department and Grand Blanc Parks and Recreation Department, under the direction of Jim Harmes and Chuck Creasey. She worked for the Grand Blanc Fire Department for over 23 years. During her time there, she formed life-long friendships with many firefighters and police officers, many of whom she still connected with her in her retirement. She was known as Mrs. Grand Blanc to many because of her work with the city. Her kindness and compassion paved the way for her to be known and loved by so many. Some of her favorite things to do were to spend time in Florida with her husband of 51 years and spending time with her grandchildren. Alexis will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Alexis and Alex married on July 25th 1970 in Detroit, MI. In 1971, their first daughter Georgia, was born. Their second daughter, Eleni, was born in 1976. Alex and Alexis raised their daughters in Grand Blanc.
As a young mom, Alexis was a Brownies’ and Girl Scouts’ leader before returning to the workforce. She was also a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed cross-stitch many evenings and weekends when her girls were younger. She often could be found visiting with friends or enjoying card group during her younger years. Alexis was very social, with a very bubbly personality. She could be considered an original soccer mom. Her daughter, Georgia, was a founding member of the Grand Blanc High School Varsity Girls Soccer team in 1986. She was present at every soccer game, near or far, and supported her daughter and many of the young women on the team. It was then that she was affectionately named Mrs. D by the girls; a name that stuck with her for the remainder of her life. As her daughters got older, she remained a constant source of support through their college years into adulthood. She was extremely proud of her girls. She valued her time with her children and grandchildren, but she also enjoyed being able to live the retirement life at a young age. She and Alex enjoyed many vacations, their condo in Florida and family during these years. She enjoyed Manhattans (sweet vermouth!) and cocktail hour with Alex and their friends. While she wanted her family with her at every holiday, Christmas was the only holiday all family were required to be at her home, and it was always celebrated on Christmas Day. Year after year, Alexis, Alex, her mom, their children, spouses, grandchildren, sister and nephews all gathered at her home for a family Christmas. This was a time that everyone cherished. She wanted to see everyone for Christmas this year. Although she won’t be here, we hope many will remember and toast Alexis on this holiday that was so special to her.
Alexis was initially diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011. At that time, she fought herself into remission. After 10 years cancer free, it reappeared in August of 2021. She fought hard and was unwilling to give up, despite the odds. She was brave, strong and admirable in her second fight.
Alexis leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Alex; her loving children, Georgia (Alan) Clark and Eleni Davlantes (Ryan Morgan); precious grandchildren, Natalie and Emma Clark, Alexander and Nicholas Butzin; sister, Connie Patrick; nephews Dean (Holly) Patrick, Bill (Christine) Patrick; brothers in law, Dr. Tim Davlantes and family, John Davlantes and family and Jim Davlantes and family, and many special friends and extended family. To know Alexis was to love her.
Alexis is preceded in death by her parents and her in laws, George and Georgia Davlantes.
