The late William Calvin Bouknight Jr., affectionately known as Sonny, was one of three children born to the William Calvin Sr. and Flossie Mae Bouknight, in Avon Park Florida on August 18, 1945. In the late 1940’s, William Sr. moved his family to the Bronx, New York. Sonny was educated in the New York School System graduating from DeWitt-Clinton High School. William made his career in the field of banking with Citibank of New York where he excelled to become Branch Manager.
In 1965, Sonny married Lauren P. Smith and out of this union two sons were born. William later met and married Marcia M. Hamilton in 1974 and out of this union a daughter and son were born. The family would relocate to Long Island, NY where Sonny and Marcia opened their hearts and home and extended their family by adopting a grandniece and 4 grandnephews. Years later Sonny and family relocated to the state of Florida settling in the town of Oakland. The family joined the Apostolic Worship Center in Orlando, Florida where he worshipped and volunteered as an accountant. Sonny loved studying World History, traveling, dancing, the Giants, the Knicks, and watching crime scene investigation shows, HGTV, and action movies.
Sonny gained his heavenly wings early Monday morning, the of October 9.
Sonny was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Marcia; his siblings Shirley Ann Simmons, Slover Dorse Bouknight Sr., and Mary Francis.
Sonny leaves many to cherish his life and memories, including his children William III, Christopher, Tamisha, Phillip, Britney, Jamal, Quenton, and Quincey, his eleven grandchildren, Diana, Jason, Isaiah, Elijah, Emani, Briella, Eli Jr., Theo, Blaze, Wreath, and Melody, his seven nieces and nephews, Lorenzo, Jackie, Debbie, Eric, Mark, Tanisha and Slover D. Jr., his Uncle, Timothy Wilson, his sister-in-law, Daisey Bouknight Cantey, two sons-in-law, Eli Salhab, Sr. and Peter Storm, and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
Sonny, you will be truly missed but God loved you best. Rest well in eternity.
A visitation for William will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A visitation will occur Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Apostolic Worship Center, 8001 Silver Star Road, Orlando, FL 32818. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Apostolic Worship Center, 8001 Silver Star Road, Orlando, FL 32818. A committal service will occur Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
