It has been a year mom. Today is the day after the day, but before the date, so I found it fitting to put my thoughts down between the heartbreaks. I miss what could have been, regret what I didn't tell you, and mourn what I hoped for. But this is certain, there was always love, admiration, and a home. This place doesn't feel like home anymore, but I have home in my heart, which will be with me always. Love and miss you.

I spent the day with you yesterday. The bulb I am planting in your memory almost bloomed on Mothers Day.  Decided to spend the day planting and listening to music, and that made the day bearable. 

I spent the day with you. I decided to plant a hibiscus as part of the sunset view we  share each evening. Hope our birds enjoy their new habitat.

I didn't have the honor of knowing Sharon, but I consider her daughter, Crystal,  as one of my "extended family"  friends."  I know Sharon had to be an amazing mother and human being, because her daughter is!   Crystal is one of the kindest souls I have ever known.  My favorite memory was when she rescued a sick kitty in the parking lot of our office.  She was the greatest "furbaby momma" caring and loving it unconditionally.  She has done that with so many people and fur babies over the years. My deepest condolences for the loss of her mother.  She sounds like she was an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven. 

I received notification that a donation has been made in my mother’s memory to Warrior Canine Connection from my Staples Team.  
This could not have been a more perfect combination. I am overwhelmed and she would be too. Supporting a charity that provides support to those who fought for our freedom and the dogs supporting them, could not have been more heartwarming.

SO grateful... I love you mom.


When my uncle first started dating Aunt Sharon, she drove a white Pinto.  I liked her immediately because she drove the same car (though different color)  as Sabrina Duncan  - from Charlie’s Angels.  Yep, each time I was in that car I was in an episode of Charlie’s Angels.  #littlememories 

When I was a little guy,  It was Aunt Sharon who introduced me to my now favorite nut - the pistachio.   But the funny part was, she liked the red ones in the shell.  The ones that after you eat a few, your fingers and hands are stained red.  I look for them now, but can never find them.  These are the little memories that are making me smile right now.  

A sincere thank you to all of those extended family members that spent time making memories with our beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and Colleague. 
Those that dropped by, checked in, drove by, and asked about our mother not only in her time of need but just because made a huge impact on the love and kindness she felt for the last 71 years. 

My heart was created by her.

Crystal: This has been our recent exchange. So many stories, so many “Well that is why…..I never knew that. “ 
What a gift. This was the best therapy ever. She not only created my life but gave me my life back. She didn’t want to die with the untold stories and shared memories as she sang like a bird. I shared with her some of my own beliefs. That this was not goodbye, but a brief silence, and we are still together just communicating at a different frequency. And I told her “I guess that means I will finally get the last word.”

My sincerest thank you to these guys. The support they have given me to provide the comfort to my mom in her greatest time of need was immeasurable.

Her son, my brother, Jason. He was my Man of Honor at my wedding. It was one of the best days of my life. To have those I hold dearest there to witness. I am so proud of my brother. This picture tugs at my heart. Recently, as I sat in her bedroom watching TV, eating watermelon and popcorn at night with one dog or another, as they would take turns, she turned to me and said, "Take care of your brother when your dad and I are gone." I sat there, fighting back the tears, straight faced trying not to cry. In the past I avoided any of these conversations about death, my mom was too strong to die. This just led to conversations on faith and led me down a faster paced path than I was ready for. Thanks AGAIN mom, you always know.

Our family, March 10, 2007, when I married the love of my life, Jason R. Wright  following in the footsteps of my mother. Creating my own family and she was beyond proud. She told me recently, that she was so happy that I had Jason in my life. She felt confident that he would take care of me when she was gone from here. And I replied that she made me a strong woman. In the end she was right, we all need someone to lean on. I too had made a wise choice on who to marry. Jason R.  gifted me the chance to be a mother. I became a bonus Mom to a son named Jason Sam that was instrumental recently on a talk about faith.  I am privileged to be called Mom, and my parents taught me that through their actions. I realized that blood doesn't make a family, people do.
I know, that is a lot of Jason's, but I pride myself on efficiency. So when I say I love Jason, I mean it. All in very different ways but through and through. Just like my mom.

Their youngest child, only son, Jason graduating from UCF with honors. Left to right: Dad, Mom, Jason, Sister, and Annette McDougall. Annette is the sister of Lewis(Dad), and longtime friend of our mom. She introduced them when they worked together at Holiday Hospital. That being enough, she did so much more. Her tireless support to our father through her battle, and her continuous care and time she spent with mom over the last year was a commendable act. A Sister in Law to the end.

Sharon's daughter Crystal  graduated in 1993.

In 1982, it all came together. They welcomed a baby boy, in August named Jason Lewis, and the fun began. Our family was complete. We would have many years of memories. That baby was their pride and joy, and still is. I was in love from the start.

Married in 1981, into a blended family. She always put me first. And then she did it again. She gave me the gift of a family, and it grew.
