On April 3, 2021, Margie Newton passed away peacefully in her sleep. She went to be with her late husband, Leon Newton and her Heavenly Father. She was 84 years old. A Florida native, she spent much of her childhood playing outside, reading books, and caring for her sister; Mary Jones whom she is survived by. She married Leon “Quitman” Newton on and went on to have a daughter they adored, Susan Elaine.
Margie was well-loved by people in her community as she was a shining light and always kind. She worked as a secretary at Miami Elevator Company for many years. Margie received her degree from Florida Southern College and loved attending classes facilitated by Mr. Newton, even after she graduated. They were avid supporters of their church, The United Methodist Church of Pine Hills and enjoyed being active members. Additionally, they were football enthusiasts. As loyal Florida State University fans, they attended many games over the years and brought along their three grandchildren; Christopher Beigel, Sheli McAllister, and Stephen Beigel whom Margie is survived by.
Mr. and Mrs. Newton have travelled the world and loved treating their family to vacations. The Newtons visited Italy, France, Switzerland, and Germany. Also, they loved going on cruises and to Reno with their family.
Margie is survived by her daughter, Susan Beigel, son in law, Carl Beigel Jr., her three grandchildren, and sister. She will be deeply missed and remembered for her caring heart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
