On October 6, 2024, Michelle flew from this earth and into the arms of her Lord and Savior.
Lisa Michelle Box Irey passed peacefully from this world following a courageous seven-year battle with heart disease at age 65. She was born on Sept 11, 1959, to parents A. D. and Virginia Ann Box in Baton Rouge, LA.
Michelle's interests during her years at Central High School, class of 1976 in Central, LA were The Kittens Dance Team and numerous roles in the Drama Club stage productions. She enjoyed many years with the youth group activities at the Comite Baptist Church.
Michelle pursued her passion for nursing, earning her Registered Nurse degree in 1983 from Our Lady of the Lake Nursing School in Baton Rouge. She dedicated herself to the profession for 20 years until her retirement in 1999 at Florida Hospital in Orlando. She provided compassionate care to countless individuals throughout her career.
Michelle married Donald F. Irey in 1984 in Pensacola, FL. They lived in San Diego, CA and Pearl Harbor, HI for the next three years during his service as a Naval Officer. The family moved to Orlando in 1991 where she was a regular school volunteer on Cassina's field trips through her graduation from Dr. Phillips High School in 2003.
Michelle had a zest for life and enjoyed various interests. She was an avid fan of the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints and could often be found passionately cheering on her favorite teams. She was a very outgoing, loving person who made friends everywhere. Michelle was loved by the many who knew her and will be missed by all. Her pleasant smile and loving sense of humor, that kept everyone on their toes, will be missed tremendously.
Michelle also had a green thumb and found joy in tending to her garden of flowers and cactus. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, creating lifelong memories. Family trips to Destin Beach, Florida were very special to her. Michelle was a devoted wife, mother, and doting grandmother. She found tranquility and joy with her grandchildren at church and visiting the Orlando area theme parks and resorts.
Michelle was known for cooking several favorite dishes for family holiday meals including roasted pulled pork, chocolate fudge brownies and turkey giblet gravy.
Michelle is survived by her husband of 40 years, Donald Irey in Orlando, daughter Cassina Morales and her husband Anthony Morales in Oviedo, FL with grandchildren Noah Douglas Morales and Daisy Michelle Morales. She is also survived by her mother Virginia Ann Box in Greenwell Springs, LA. and brother Douglas Box in Eupora, MS. She was preceded in death by her father A. D. Box.
The memorial service will be at 3 pm on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Tuskawilla United Methodist Church, 3925 Red Bug Road, Casselberry, FL. The family will receive guests after this service at the church.
