Elaine Schecter Hurwitz, 82, of Orlando, Florida passed away on July 14, 2014 at the Vitas Inpatient Care Unit in Winter Garden, FL. Mrs. Hurwitz was born on November 27, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Jack and Anne (Zubar) Schecter. Elaine graduated from Temple University School of Nursing. The last 20 years of her nursing career at Bethesda Naval Hospital, she was privileged to be involved in the care of Presidents and First Ladies, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, George and Barbara Bush, Supreme Court Justice Sandra O’Connor and Senator John Warner. She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Arnold “Arnie” Hurwitz (January 18, 2014). Survivors include her daughters, Donna Hurwitz, Barrie (Kerry) Stark; brother, Eugene (Corinne) Schecter; grandson, Alexander; nephew, Jack (Sara) Schecter; nieces, Lisa (Mark) Koch, Jennifer (Brian) Chapman, Margie (Kirk) Warner, Ellen (Kevin) Brown and Dana Hurwitz. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Woodlawn Funeral Home with interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
