Dorothy A. Shaw, 91, passed away from natural causes on Friday, August 16, 2013, at Florida East Hospital. She was born in Jamestown, Jamaica, the daughter of the late Ernest and Lilly Bridge. Dorothy married Levi, the love of her life, and they spent 64 years together, raising two daughters and two granddaughters. Dorothy enjoyed reading and singing songs, offering a Bible verse and a chorus for every situation. Dorothy is survived by her husband Levi; her daughters Gaile and Lesley, her granddaughters Caysie and Gillian and step-grandchildren Simon and Chloe. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, willing guests can offer donations to Clifton Boys’ Home.
Donations
The Clifton Boy's Home, in Darliston, Westmoreland, Jamaica, was opened on February 2, 1961. It provides for boys, ages 7 to 18 years, who because of abuse, abandonment, or being orphaned, have no other home. Levi Shaw's sister, Ceceline McIntyre, of blessed memory, is one of the original founders of the home, and this along with the love for the boys, became one of Levi's mission. The Home's Library is in total disrepair. A Library Fund has been established in the names of Levi & Dorothy Shaw with goal of fully refurbishing the library.
