Ramkissoon Mahadeo, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 in
Winter Garden, Florida. She was born on December 22, 1947 in Ocean
View, Uitvlugt, Guyana.
The eldest of nine children, Chitra, also known as Sham, moved to New
York City in 1973. She was exceptionally driven and honed her
impressive skillset throughout her adulthood. In New York during the
1970s, she began work as a secretary at a firm which contracted with
several government agencies, including NASA, before eventually
becoming office manager. In the 80s, she continued work as an office
manager at a real estate company before she became an agent and moved
into real estate investment. While she continued to practice real
estate in Orlando, Florida during the 90s, she also began working at a
hospital while studying to become a nurse. Throughout the 2000s, she
practiced nursing at a doctor’s office where she was beloved by her
patients and coworkers. Chitra had a thirst for knowledge and pursued
learning about a vast array of topics, from various religions to
Italian Renaissance art. She had a playful sense of humor, loved to
laugh and have fun, travel, spend time with her large family, and sing
her favorite karaoke bhajans as often as possible!
Chitra will be missed and lovingly remembered by her extensive family.
She is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Sarita (Sandy)
& Gabriel, Nalini (Lindy) & Chris, Narita (Wendy) & Kyle, and Nandini
(Cindy) & Christopher; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lakshmi (Raj) &
Buddy Puran, Narita (Nico) & Rajin Bajrangi, Indira (Shanta) & James
Gounden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan & Indra Mahadeo, Krishna &
Golin Mahadeo, Joe & Zerena Mahadeo, Vishnu & Sheila Mahadeo, and
Anand Mahadeo & Lolita Singh. She is also survived by many others dear
to her, including Aunties and Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and
close friends.
Chitra’s cremation service is set at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha,
Florida. Her ashes will be released at sea.
