Sheila was born inClearfield,PAto Lt. Col. James P. Braniff and Emma Letcher Braniff and grew up an Air Force brat all over the country. She graduated fromSurrattsvilleHigh Schoolin 1965, and received her degree fromTowsonStateTeacherCollegein 1969. She later went on to earn her Masters Degree fromWesternMarylandCollege. She married and had two daughters, Kristen and Jamie that absolutely adore her. She remarried James B. Siford in 2000.
After years as a devoted stay-at-home mother, Sheila reentered the workforce as a mathematics teacher for Carroll County Public Schools, from which she retired in 2010. An avid genealogist, she was a member of the DAR and volunteered for years at her local family history library. In her retirement, Sheila became an accomplished oil painter and was inducted into the Vanguard Society in 2011. She has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and has held many callings within the church. She was a cherished friend, a gifted teacher, and a deeply caring mother and grandmother.
Sheila is survived by her mother, Emma Braniff, her daughters Kristen Mayle and Jamie Beecham, her sons-in-law Keith Mayle and Michael Beecham, her two grandchildren Cooper and Jovie, her brothers Byron Braniff and Greg Braniff and their families, and her husband, James Siford and his family.
Arizona: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 26th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 15880 W. Cactus Rd. in Surprise, AZ. Visitation from 2pm to 4pm with the service at 4pm.
Maryland: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4117 Lower Beckleysville Rd. in Hampstead, Maryland.
Burial will be in Glasgow, PA.
