Raymond G. Orozco Sr. peacefully left this life on his eternal journey on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015. He was born in Torreon, Mexico on Nov. 9, 1939, the fourth child of Victoriano and Maria Inez Orozco. He is survived by his heaven sent soul mate, Margarita (Margie) Medina Orozco. They were married June 30, 1963, in Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by his son, Raymond M. Orozco Jr., SMSgt, USAF (Ret); his wife Yamileth A. Martinez and his daughter, Sonia Orozco Cardona and her husband Rene Cardona, MSgt, USAF (Ret); and grandchildren, Michael R. Orozco, Cassandra N. Orozco, Alec A. Cardona and Krystal M. Cardona.
He was hardworking man at a very young age travelling throughout the Southwest, United States with his immediate family as a farm laborer. He returned to Phoenix, AZ where he met and married his faithful companion, partner, wife and mother of his two children. He worked for Arizona Public Service at several regional offices from 1969 until his retirement in 1996 as a Supply Warehouse Manager.
He loved the outdoors, a good warm fire and enjoyed NFL Football, NASCAR, camping and most especially riding his farm tractor and ATV. After retirement, he worked to improve his home and spent many happy hours on his Estrella Mountain property. He especially enjoyed camping at the NASCAR Phoenix International Raceway where he met and kept lifetime friends. He was formerly a member of the Volunteer Firefighters of Tolleson, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He loved his family and was always willing and able to lend a helping hand, tell a great story and provide treasured advice when anyone needed it. He never met a stranger and was a true gentleman and loyal counselor to many. Even in the past few years with failing health, he became very spiritual which we will all miss greatly. We all hope that heaven has a sierra mountain and desert trails to continue his loving and enduring journey. We love you Ray, Raymond, Ramon, Honey, Mi Amor, Dad, Daddy, Grandpa, Uncle, Tio, Compa, Compadre, Mr. Orozco, man of many names and family to all.
The family wants to thank the entire staff of Hospice Family Care, West Valley and Phoenix locations, for their extraordinary and compassionate care. We also want to thank Thompson Funeral Chapel, Blessed Sacrament Church and Holy Cross Cemetery for their outstanding services. A viewing will be held on Saturday, 21st Feb at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 512 N. 93rd Ave, Tolleson. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 9925 W. Thomas Rd. in Avondale.
