In the early morning of September 13, 2021, Conallee “Connie” Mize left this earthly plane for her heavenly home. Her husband, James “Jim” and daughter Debbie are grateful for the years the Lord allowed them to share with her.
Connie was the third of four children born to Nora and George Johnson. Born while her father was away serving in World War II, she received her unusual name from a song her father liked called “Rose Connelly”. She grew up on a farm in southern Kentucky and graduated in 1958 from Lily High School, where she was the head cheerleader for the Lily Bulldogs. She then worked at the London Tuberculosis Hospital until she married.
Connie and Jim were wed on October 6, 1962 and welcomed their only child, Debbie on July 7, 1963. Connie was deeply involved with the Girl Scouts of America during her daughter’s time with them and became a well-known Cadet Scout Troop Leader and the State Cookie Chairman.
Jim and Connie owned Jim Mize Saw Cut for 25 years. She loved caring for and encouraging her grandchildren in their endeavors and was over the moon to become a great-grandmother twice over. She also enjoyed attending The Maricopa Valley Tabernacle then the Tolleson Listening Post to listen to God’s word and fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Connie was the last of her siblings to pass and is survived by her husband (Jim), daughter (Debbie), three grandchildren (Nicolas, Destiny, and Jasmine), and two great-grandchildren (David and Melody), as well as by extended family and friends, many of whom she considered family.
Funeral services are private.
